Project Clinic | Atlantic » Creative Brainstorming

2024-May-15 | Gathering as a small group, we compare notes and brainstorm each month about projects we've thought about or as in the case today, talk about memorial projects

Joining me today in what will be the last of this series in this form for a while was Projectkin member

. In this intimate setting, we covered various topics but circled back to memorial services and the nature of these programs. I hope you listen and chime in with your comments below.

Mentioned during today’s program included several other Projectkin members and programs, specifically

of the Juvenile Geriatric who joined us for our program last month.

That program and Jane’s ongoing interest in “Orders of Service” cards triggered our extended discussion about new and inventive ways to use these occasions for storytelling programs.

  • I shared a little about some recent programs I’ve attended and some reflections on the anniversary of my mother’s passing in 2022.

  • Linda shared her thoughts about these kinds of gatherings based on her experience with a heart-wrenching tragedy over 40 years ago.

  • The discussion circled back to the joyful side with an appreciation for our work to create family memories now. Linda’s eyes twinkled as she shared plans for a family reunion this long weekend in Canada.

Watch for this topic to come up again in a future Projectkin event. Do you have any resources for me? Please drop them in the comments or feel free to message me.

A word about this “Clinic” format:

From its start, Projectkin has been all about re-invention. I’ve decided it’s time to change the format for this particular program, so I’ve removed all Clinic events from the events list at Projectkin.org/events. I have a few ideas and a fun new series of Project Recipe events to hit the calendar in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, join us TOMORROW!

If you haven’t registered yet, there’s still time to join us for tomorrow’s very special Project Recipe event focusing on how to “Encourage the Reluctant Storyteller” with

, Bridget Badoe McQuick tomorrow, Thursday, May 16. In deference to her location in London, the event is scheduled during our Atlantic time window at 10 AM PT, 1 PM ET, 5 PM BST, and 18:00 CET.

Deadline May 21: Projectkin Members’ Corner

And since I sneak this in each time I share recordings… remember that Tuesday, May 21 is my May Projectkin Members’ Corner cohort deadline.

Each month, I welcome Projectkin members to share their stories with our community as part of a monthly cohort. I start each share at or around the end of the month. Since we’ll celebrate Memorial Day here in the US on the last Monday of this month, I’ve decided to focus our cohort on stories of military experiences worldwide. Have a story to share?
