Recordings from Day 1 of our 🐰🐰 ready RootsTech “Project Party 🎉 ”
With millions of our bunny-slipper clad friends, we're making the best of RootsTech in its new digital form. Thank you for your support making this a fabulous start to the three-day show.
For the three days of this enormous family history conference, I’m allowing myself to email you just four times.1 With events and new posts we’re cranking out many more than that, but by nesting posts inside of posts, I can be a lot more efficient with your time. Here’s what to expect:
(Last night) News of the unveiling of the Members’ Corner.
(Below) Recordings from today’s two talks.
(Friday night, PT) Recordings from Friday’s talks.
(Saturday night, PT) Recordings from Saturday’s talks.
Recordings from today’s two talks
I think you’ll detect, as I did, an unexpected symmetry across today’s two talks.
kicked off the series with an informal discussion of her own journey into “doing something” with the artifacts and records of her family history. Victoria MacGregor of picked up the thread to explore the challenges of engaging family in the stories. These links will take you to the recordings, transcripts and notes. All RootsTech-related news will be on our Projectkin.org/rootstech page.
While I’ve planned to keep each of these talks to a strict 30 minutes, it was quickly evident that the deep and thoughtful discussions easily slid into the “After party,” when the conversation continues for up to 30 minutes after the recording is sent off for processing. You have to be there in person for these conversations, and in many ways they build the scaffolding for our community.
Four more programs
If you have a moment during your own busy week, I hope you can join us for one or more of the other four programs coming up. You can register for free here:

A few Rootstech tips. If the RootsTech conference is new to you, you can learn more about it and register for a free online ticket at RootsTech.org. They have organized a dazzling array of courses and programs for the conference and expo.
After this first day, I will say that if you see nothing else, take a moment to watch the keynote, especially the film. (Tip: Have a hanky handy.)
Yep, it’s really free
Finally, all of this programming is presented free and you are more than welcome to share. In fact, I’ll shortly be adding these videos up to our YouTube Channel at YouTube.com/@projectkin as a way to introduce Projectkin.org to a larger community.
We all learn more from a shared community with others working through the same challenges. You’re more than welcome to forward this email, and if it was forwarded to you, come explore and consider joining us.
