Simon Davies » Why Study One Place?
Coming September 25, 10 AM PT, 1 PM ET, 6 PM BST, 19:00 CET in the lead up to our All About That Place series, Simon Davies of WeAre.xyz will join us live to share why study one place.
Special Talk Sept. 25
Ahead of our Pacific Edition of the “All About That Place” series,
of WeAre.xyz will be our guest to offer our Projectkin community a backgrounder on One-Place Studies. Though the London-based Society for One-Place Studies has provided a nexus for this work for a decade, the practice is still new to many family historians and genealogists in the Americas and Pacific Region. To learn more and register, please visit the Zoom registration page.
Simon has been a friend of the
since our earliest days. You may have met him at events or viewed his delightful project recipe from 2023, “Playing for Ancestors” in which he created a deck of custom playing cards. Each card has a distinct photo of an ancestor, location, or artifact and a QR code that takes a viewer to stories in his WeAre archive. In this talk, Simon will share his insights on the practice of One-Place Studies and how it can inform your ongoing family history work. Simon is an extraordinary genealogist with a trove of family photographs and artifacts documenting centuries of his family’s history in the border region between England and Wales. Learn more here. Simon is also a regular contributor at genealogy society talks and WeAre.xyz is a sponsor for All About That Place.
This free program will be held online via Zoom; everyone is welcome. Link details will be emailed to you after registration. Join us as a free subscribing member at Projectkin.org and automatically receive an email with the recording and resources shortly after the program's conclusion.

Interesting! Makes me think of my father, who spent his later years studying the history of the place he lived in.
I have registered but not sure whether I will get to the live event given that it will be 5am where I am ( NZST )
