Here is the reason Victoria Day falls near May 24th.

From my CBC newsletter this morning:

“On this day in 1819 Queen Victoria was born at Kensington Palace, London. In 1837 she became Queen at age 18 and reigned for almost 64 years. On May 24, 1902, 16 months after the Queen’s death, Canada observed Victoria Day for the first time.”
