I've put Substack to work with my existing family history archive to create a new way to engage my family in our stories using the magic of voice and video. Join us at the Recipe event on Sept-12.
Definitely an interesting idea. I love it actually. But I don't know if I could do it. Not because I am afraid to speak the truth. I am strong believer that generational trauma will not stop until we address it.
Whether trauma, or bad feelings, these kinds of things don't just go away. I think the very nature of family history is personal. The personal bits, the ugly stories, the painful secrets are the ones that need privacy to fully discuss and heal from. I hope to make all of this clear enough that anyone could set it up for themselves.
Since it involves motivating family to get engaged, well... there are unknowns. I can't give you a formula for that. 😊 In fact, that may be where we can all learn from each other.
You're very kind. If nothing else, I hope to have parsed out some technical and social elements to consider as part of our storytelling channels. The session is also at a terrible time for all of you down under. Apologies for that, I'm always happy to chat live. 🤫 it's late for you now though... 🌝
As always a great idea - I am continually impressed by your inventiveness and energy. We all love to hear stories. One of the reasons podcasts are so popular.

Barbara, Thanks for all of this great info. I learn so much from you.
Thanks for this Barbara. It seems that I never stop learning. Not sure if this is for me, but I'm interested enough to attend and hear more about it.
