We acquire knowledge and wisdom through stories. Facts build the roads, but stories take us around hairpin curves. We remember how the stories made us feel, even after the facts melt away.
Aw, thank you. It's one of my all-time favorites. I adored my dear great-aunt. In many ways, she started me down this path with an interest in Family history in the late 1970s, come to think of it. I haven't given her enough credit.
Found it! This is a 1921 Oldsmobile 43A Series Touring, AKA "The Swamp rat." It is best known as the family vehicle in the 1960s sitcom "The Beverly Hillbillies." I am laughing hard right now Barbara. It seems your family is irrevocably tied to the Beverly Hillbillies now. 😂😂😂
Looks like about a 1920 Buick touring. The gas cap is fairly diagnostic and the 12 spoke wooden wheels are period. The slanted vents on the cowling are distinctive but I can't place it.
Love that photo!!

OMG how much do I love this. We now can tease Barbara about this FOREVER
lol, David… time to start a band. Want the fiddle or the washboard?
We are siblings from a different mother.😂

Oh… I knew there would be an expert here. I know the little girl was born in 1908, so she could be 12… 🤔
She looks about 13 to me so that puts us in the ball park of about 1920-1921 for the photo. Terminus ante quem - that puts the car at about 1915-1921.
