Such a wonderful initiative Barbara and Jennifer!! And congrats to Anne and Jennifer for bringing the incredible work of Caroline Chisholm to light. She reminds me of what I am finding about my subject Leonora Kearney Barry: Tremendous tenacity when so many would have given up!!

bravo ladies!!

Blush, you’re very kind. Sounds to me as though Leonora’s is a story that needs to be told, eh?

Unfortunately I didn't get online for the live session. I'll catch up on the recording soon though.

A great woman in Australia’s history remembered. I loved her drive and persistence in helping people.

Diane, I did wonder with your NSW connections. -did you learn about her when you were at school?

I did learn about her briefly in Primary School and I did Modern History as an elective subject in High School so I learnt about her again. It is only now that I am wondering how what she did relates to my own immigrant ancestors. There are a few that she may have crossed paths with in the early 1840s.

When I saw you there today, I wondered the same. It's something to think about.

This was really interesting ... I am glad I managed to make it albeit 7 minutes late (stuff going on!). It was really interesting to hear about all Caroline Chisholm achieved and her interactions with people like Charles Dickens. Thanks Jennifer and Anne

I know! The Charles Dickens connection was a surprise!

Bleak House is my favourite Charles Dickens book. I'll have to go back and read it again, now that I know about the Caroline Chisholm connection.
