Microhistory looks at the small to explain the big. Very productive viewpoint for generating story ideas! Also, thanks for the great plug, Barbara and Lisa. You two are the best!

I love this!! Such a great discussion - hope to be back in time to join the live Zoom on Thursday (if not, I will be def reviewing the recording!!!).

I fell into writing micro history around family - and braiding it with the macro - and my own personal experiences as well, to help create context. So many great subjects to explore. As Lisa said it can be about anything!

Oh, what a terrific reference. I vaguely remembered it too, but a few quick clicks took me to the Butler Professional Ferrier’s school which (aptly) referenced the full proverb quoted by Benjamin Franklin in an almanac in 1758… 🥹

“For the want of a nail the shoe was lost,

For the want of a shoe the horse was lost,

For the want of a horse the rider was lost,

For the want of a rider the battle was lost,

For the want of a battle the kingdom was lost,

And all for the want of a horseshoe-nail.”

That’s just spot on… thank you, Janine!
